This project in City Beach involved a third-floor extension and internal reconfiguration to enhance lifestyle and comfort.
The brief focused on improving the home’s layout to better support everyday living, while adding a new main bedroom suite above the existing structure to take in the sweeping coastal views. The project also included a reconfiguration of the stair void, an extension to the family living area, and the addition of a new alfresco zone.
Working with the challenges of an established three-level home, the design and construction teams carefully integrated the new upper level—maintaining proportion and balance while enhancing light and space. Externally, lightweight materials were used to minimise load and support compliance, including EPS cladding finished with acrylic render in soft coastal tones.
Internally, the new main suite features custom joinery, a freestanding bath, full-height tiling, and Caesarstone finishes throughout. Downstairs, the extended living area creates better flow between the kitchen, dining and outdoor zones. Subtle updates, including refined lighting, balustrading, and glazing, helped bring a contemporary feel without overwhelming the existing home.
This was a technically complex build with structural, access and planning considerations. The result is a cohesive and quietly confident home that now meets the needs of its owner more fully—without compromising its original character.
